A Very Important Letter To All Landlords From Our PMLNT Survey Manager, John Pearson
Dear PMLNT Members,
As we near the end of our 2011 season as Purple Martin Landlords, it is important that we reflect on the past and share our collective experiences so we can learn and become even better landlords for the future. Before we close the books on 2011, we will be reporting on much of the activity from our members as well as our success rates in growing the population of Purple Martins. We would like for you to join our effort by submitting your colony information on the Survey form. Thank you to all that have already submitted your form. Since 2006, we have continued to track our club’s experience and have tabulated fascinating data over time which helps give us some insight into our beloved Purple Martins behavior. Each year we reach out to all our members in an effort to develop a sizeable enough group to enable us to draw more sound conclusions from the numbers we collect. In statistics this is called the ‘law of large numbers’ and more is definitely better. The more of our members submitting their colony information, the better!
Please join others of your fellow PMLNT members and submit your valuable 2011 colony data today. Regardless of the size of your colony be it one house or several, your data is important to us. I am anxiously waiting by my email or fax to hear from you. I will acknowledge my receipt of your data when you send it to: jpearson@statenational.com . Since I will be starting to put together the presentation soon, the last day to report your experiences as a Purple Martin landlord for 2011 will be January 28, 2012. Please stand up and be counted.
